Biology Coaching

Pure & Combined Science

Our Biology programme follows closely with the latest MOE O-Level Biology syllabuses (Pure Biology 5090 and Science (Biology) 5086), covering all six sections across 14 topics from cell biology to reproduction and genetics.

All content is aligned with the requirements set out in the 2023 O-Level Biology (5090) and Science (Biology) (5086) syllabuses published by the Ministry of Education Singapore.

HOW ASPIRE HUB HELPS

Our Approach to O-Level Biology

01

Conceptual Understanding Over Memorisation

Biology has a large volume of content, and many students try to memorise without understanding. Our coaches build genuine conceptual understanding — helping students see how systems connect (e.g. how transport, respiration and excretion all relate to cell function) — which makes recall far more reliable.

01

Pure vs Combined Biology

Pure Biology (5090) includes Excretion in Humans and Homeostasis as standalone topics, and covers Molecular Genetics (DNA structure, protein synthesis, genetic engineering) in greater depth. Combined Science (Biology) (5086) has 12 topics. Our coaches tailor coaching to each student’s exact syllabus.

03

Diagrams and Labelling

Biology examinations require accurate, well-labelled diagrams — cells, the heart, the nephron, the eye, the reflex arc. Our coaches train students to draw these confidently and correctly, as diagram questions are high-yield marks in O-Level Biology.

04

Experiment Design and Data Interpretation

O-Level Biology questions frequently ask students to design experiments, identify variables, and interpret results. We build these skills systematically, ensuring students can apply the scientific method to any biological context they encounter.

05

Genetics and Molecular Biology

Genetics and molecular biology are among the most challenging and highest-yield topics in O-Level Biology. Our coaches break down inheritance patterns, DNA structure and protein synthesis into clear, step-by-step frameworks that students can apply confidently.
